Seems like everytime I get a new doctor (it's happened quite a bit because I get dropped for not going to the doctor often enough - I don't get sick!), they put me through every blood test you can think of, even thyroid tests. They all think my fatness is caused by something hormonal and then can never find anything.

I eat very little (like 1/3 of what my friends and other family members can consume in a sitting). I also have learned to eat slowly. And I tell this to doctors and they are baffled. I wish they had a reputable drug to boost metabolism. :P

Good on ya for having those results though! :)

Sile, I know just what you mean. Same quantity (more or less) of food but much higher calorie content :-(
Still, as you say, it's spring.

I think I just gained 10lbs just looking at the pictures! LOL

I really hate that I've fallen off the food wagon. I don't really eat more, but I've been eating the wrong stuff this winter. Since it's spring, I'm starting to crave salads again, which is a good thing! :D

I think the most major thing I have now that we didn't have in the house growing up is skim milk (aka fat free). Mom would never buy anything with less fat than 2%. When I got into college I started drinking only skim and found that I liked it more, and when I went back home to visit, I found that I couldn't drink mom's milk anymore because it was too thick! Since I now cook for both her and my stepfather, I have forced the skim on them, and now they're used to it too. I am so mean, denying them fat. ;)

There are also a great variety of fruits and vegetables that I have been gradually adding into our diet that we never had growing up, either because mom didn't know how to prepare them (she really isn't the best of cooks. not very confident in the kitchen), or they were too costly, or just not available. Since I now do most, if not all of the cooking for the two households, and I know how to read a recipe, we've been having such a great variety of things and I think we're better for it. Not all of it has been a success, however. I discovered I don't like mango, for example. But I did try it more than once, just to make sure. :) I never was a picky eater, thankfully.

Oh. FRESH broccoli. Growing up, and until last summer, we'd been eating only frozen, which is ok. But since I started going to the farmer's market last summer, we've been on FRESH only. The taste is so much better!

The same market also introduced me to WHITE peaches! I nearly wept when their season was over. The taste is so different. So good. I want one now. *tears up*

I noticed when I first started taking pics of meals, that there wasn't as much green stuff as I thought. My hubby can't eat too much veg, especially if they aren't cooked (he has Crohn's disease). I found the easiest way to boost things for me, was also to have fruit with breakfast and veg with lunch where possible.

I don't know what it is about looking at food but I find great satisfaction in it. I'm definitely a foodie voyeur! I love seeing what other people eat & have posted pics in the past myself of my groceries.
